Following their popular Sheep Discovery Days, Breckenholme Education are now offering Farm-to-Fork Days where children can learn about a chosen crop, take a farm walk and make something with the crop. The image shows grain being ground on a wheat discovery day. Here’s what one school had to say about their visit, 'The Discovery Day sounded really interesting and well planned and we wanted to visit a working farm. We had a fantastic day! The staff and facilities were excellent, the day well organised and all activities engaging and interesting.'
Based in the Yorkshire Wolds, with easy access to York and the East Coast, Breckenholme Education's Farm Discovery Days offer free support to primary, secondary and special needs schools, helping to get children out into the countryside to learn about food, farming and everything in between! Committed to giving opportunities to children to learn more about how and where their food is produced, they are in a unique position to bring children onto the farm to see the process in a fun, engaging and creative environment. They work in discussion with teachers, making visits completely relevant and identifying specific curriculum objectives.
Spring will see a second site at their working farm North Breckenholme up and running and offering a new raft of experiences. They are currently promoting art-focussed Discovery Days, to include a visit to Robert Fuller’s Gallery. This internationally renowned wildlife artist is a neighbour, and they'll also help schools take advantage of the stunning landscape where they are based.
