Saffron Heath comprises a 6-acre enclosed wildlife & environmental site. Features include pre-Victorian field pond with newts (perfect for pond dipping), wildflower meadow (perfect for bug hunting), little woodland & pocket park (perfect for den building), heritage fruit orchard (perfect for fruit harvesting & apple pressing), as well as a restored Anderson shelter, picnic benches, classroom & kitchen facilities with mains power, composting accessible toilet, and educational resources available for hire from the charity.
Saffron Acres is the adjacent 6 acre community food growing project, with polytunnels, sensory garden, large established orchard, unusual varieties of fruit & veg growing from around the world, fire pit, pizza oven, apple juice making, large scale composting, woodland walk, storytelling area, bog garden, herb beds, arable paddocks, opportunities for viewing farm equipment at work (tractor & plough), lavender labyrinth and more!
