Widehorizons Townsend Centre

Open seven days a week for groups of all ages, our residential courses are tailored to meet the requirements of individual groups. Our activities range from environmental explorations and team challenges, to curriculum based field studies in awe inspiring locations. The Centre was established in 1929 to cater for deprived young boys from Inner London and through its long history has developed into a leading outdoor education facility. It now caters for mixed groups of various sizes and was refurbished in 2010 with the addition of a brand new dormitory. The Centre can now accommodate up to 114 people in four comfortable dormitories set in six acres of grounds. There are facilities on site for a variety of adventure activities and there is space for both outdoor and indoor recreation including a football pitch. Most activities take place off site, often within walking distance from the centre. Locations include Swanage town and beach, Durlston Country Park, Corfe Castle and Studland beach for example.
