It lies within the Farndale Nature Reserve and part of the farm bordering the River Dove is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its wild daffodils, wet woodland and wildflower-rich grassland. The farm supports a herd of suckler cows and a flock of breeding sheep. Haymaking is the main cropping activity.
