This has been the Strickland family home for over 750 years, with an impressive 14th century pele-tower, which was extended in Tudor times, with some of the finest Elizabethan carved overmantels in the country. It has good English and French furniture, family portraits and Stuart relics, as well as fine gardens (including the Trust’s largest limestone rock garden)with a good autumn colour. The Large estate has a very good variety of habitats.
