Plastic is a versatile and durable material used in the horticulture industry, such as fertiliser bags, tree guards, plants pots, and mulch film. However, these plastics can occasionally escape into the environment, getting into our soil, rivers and eventually our sea!
This resource is the first part of a series of three looking at sources and impacts of plastic pollution as well as possible solutions and good waste management practice. Each lesson contains a powerpoint with activities included.
This resource will:
- Identify different types of plastics used in the horticulture industry
- Describe the different pathways of plastic into our environment
- Describe the impact of plastic pollution on wildlife and our environment
