Ampthill Park, designed, in part, by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, is a nationally important historic site, where Henry VIII hunted 500 years ago.
The Greensand Ridge Walk runs through the park, walking along it you will see veteran trees, species rich grassland and Katherine’s Cross which marks the place where Ampthill Castle, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, used to be.
You may also catch a glimpse of a bat as the site is of importance for at least 4 bat species that roost in the veteran trees.
Other interesting species include Brown hares, Great Crested Newts and a range of bird species.
