This is an arable/livestock farm located near Lulworth Cove in Dorset. A lovely valley by the sea displays Bronze Age field systems and beautiful species-rich chalk pastures with their associated invertebrates, and is grazed by cattle and sheep. Inland there are 200 hectares of arable crops: wheat, barley and oilseed rape. The farm uses a number of interesting habitat measures supported by Environmental Stewardship to encourage wildlife and demonstrates that these can be very effective alongside modern farming techniques, so that numbers of partridges, skylarks, hares and many other species are rising despite full use of fertilizers and pesticides in growing crops.
