The Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve is the longest established Voluntary Marine Nature Reserve (VMNR) in the UK. The reserve was established by the voluntary agreement of the owners of the foreshore and regular users including divers. Since the early days there have been many exciting developments here, including the United Kingdom's first underwater nature trail, and a subsea video camera mounted in the clear waters of the bay so that non-divers can get a glimpse of the fascinating wildlife.
