Morghew farm is a mixed commercial farm covering 700 hectares, including cereals, linseed and a great variety of potatoes. The name comes from the Anglo-Saxon word “Morgengifin”, which referred to a kind of dowry , or “gift of the morrow”. This was a gift from the husband to his new wife on the morning following their marriage. It consisted of a piece of land which was then considered be the wife’s property.
