LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) is a leading UK-based charity established in 1991, to drive the transition to more sustainable farming and food systems at a global level. Through a combination of practical on-farm solutions, evidence-based assurance, education, and public engagement, We Connect, We Build Trust and We Educate.

Central to our work is Integrated Farm Management (IFM) – a whole-farm approach that balances environmental care, economic viability, and community engagement. IFM combines the best of modern technology with traditional methods to enhance soil health, improve water and air quality, promote biodiversity, and strengthen farm-community links.

We connect farmers, innovators, and industry to understand best practice sustainable farm management and how it can be applied most effectively to each farm’s unique situation.   We operate a national network of Demonstration Farms and Innovation Centres that bring research into practice and provide platforms for knowledge exchange.

We build trust and scale sustainable farming, through LEAF Marque  a globally recognised environmental assurance system that certifies farms committed to IFM principles. Covering key areas such as soil health, water management, biodiversity, animal welfare, community engagement, and climate resilience.

We educate through our nationally recognised education and public engagement programmes which inspire the next generation and reconnect people with sustainable farming and food production.  Our team of qualified education specialists works with farmers, schools, and citizens across the UK to bring sustainable farming to life—both in the classroom and on the farm.   We also run Open Farm Sunday, the farming industry’s national open day, which welcomes nearly 200,000 members of the public onto working farms each year. This flagship initiative strengthens public understanding of sustainable agriculture and reconnects people with where their food comes from.
