A 598 acre, family owned mixed farm combining a major arable business with a dry flock of 200 ewes. In the adoption of IFM at Silton Manor Farm, efficiency is the key goal. Wheat is the main crop grown and varieties are selected to suit the soil type which varies across the farm. A mixture of one, to six metre, grass margins have been established around all fields acting as a buffer between hedgerows, ditches and the crop. These provide valuable habitat for birds, small mammals and insects. Beetle banks divide the larger fields to provide wildlife havens.
